How fascinating! your brought such a different sensibility to depicting graffiti/crumbling walls and posters. I can see your abstract eye in the choice of photographs, which are beautiful in themselves. I see three elements, abstraction, colour and texture. I look forward to seeing where this leads you :)
As for your trip, wow! and unfortunately I think you have hit the nail on the head regarding coordination. It must have been a humbling experience as well as highlighting a sense of helplessness.

energy
human expression
something mysterious although I am not sure what!
Yes, the trip to Gambia was very humbling to say the least.
